What can monday sidekick do?
monday sidekick is your personal AI assistant that can handle a wide range of tasks to accelerate your work at every level.
Here’s what it can do:
- Take action on your behalf, such as sending Slack messages, tagging teammates, and updating work
- Think with you by analyzing board data or researching the web
- Create for you by generating on-brand documents, plans, and visuals
- Brainstorm ideas, write content, and streamline your processes
- Manage your board: create, edit, update, and delete items, groups, columns, and labels
- Read subitems, including column information and updates
- Retrieve answers based on your board’s data or from monday.com’s Help Center
- Surface insights: catch delays, suggest follow-ups, highlight trends, and recommend actions based on team activity

How to use monday sidekick
There are several ways to access and use monday sidekick. You can access sidekick on the account level, the board level, and on individual items. It is also embedded within many other features such as the workflow builder and monday workdocs.
monday sidekick on the account level
You can access monday sidekick directly from the left pane menu by clicking on AI Sidekick:
This will take you to the sidekick mini-home, where you will receive instant, context-aware help across your monday account.
The sidekick chat helps you collaborate and create more effectively by letting you reference boards, docs, and teammates directly in conversations, leading to seamless teamwork.
Use the chat to easily create content end to end, from generating docs and images to building boards and monday solutions using monday magic.
You can also use monday integrations like Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, and Slack directly within the chat. Sidekick also works with full context, pulling information from your monday content, attached files, web search, and advanced language models, so you can get accurate, relevant answers all in one place.

You can use the sidekick colorful AI star icon at the bottom of your board:

You can also use monday sidekick on a specific item by selecting the checkbox next to the item you want to use it for:
You can select up to 10 items at a time with batch actions.
Once you've selected the item, click on monday sidekick, it will open up the chat and you can ask the monday sidekick to use it in the myriad ways it can to help you in your work processes.
monday sidekick on the entire board
Click the colorful AI star at the bottom right of your board to take action across the entire board to engage the monday sidekick in board-wide related tasks.
The chat will open up and you'll be able to make changes to the entire board. Sidekick will also give you action suggestions based on the board's data.
Voice mode
Sidekick Voice lets you interact with Sidekick using natural speech, so you can work faster and stay hands-free when needed.
It understands context, responds quickly with clear voice output, and confirms important actions before carrying them out, giving you confidence and control.
With built-in readbacks and confirmations for impactful changes, you can safely complete tasks using your voice.
Send formatted emails with HTML and attachments
You can design and format your email body using HTML and send more polished, branded messages directly from within sidekick In addition, you can now attach files to emails sent through these experiences.
When setting up your email action, enter your HTML code directly into the email body field. The email will be sent using your provided formatting.
To attach a file, the file must already be stored in a Files column on the item. Sidekick can then include that file as an attachment when the email is sent. The maximum file size for attachments is 5 MB.
Historical trends
While using sidekick, historical trends help you understand how your data evolves over time, enabling you to move beyond point-in-time insights and make more informed decisions directly in the platform. To learn more, please check out the Historical trends in monday sidekick article.
Other usage
You can use sidekick with any MCP or API connectivity within the monday platform, augmenting your abilities to get your work done in the most efficient way possible.

Board insights: To get board insights from sidekick, try to ask the agent a question like or similar to:
Prompt: "How many items per priority are there?"
Board assistance: You can ask sidekick to help you with maintaining your board with prompts such as:
Prompt: "Teach me how to hide subitems and customize asset cards view".

Permissions
You can enable or disable AI features permissions, including for monday sidekick. To enable sidekick, make sure you check the checkbox next to Use AI Agents. You need to access any or all of the following:
Usage and limitations
monday sidekick currently does not consume credits, but it will be monetized in the future.

At the end of an interaction with sidekick, you will be given the option to rate the conversation with a thumbs up or thumbs down. This will help improve the accuracy of sidekick.
If you give a thumbs down reaction, you will be prompted to give more feedback why the interaction wasn't successful.
