If you've decided to cancel and close your account, this article will walk you through the step-by-step process tailored to your setup.
The cancellation process depends on the number of products you have purchased on your account:
- If you only have one product and want to cancel your account, read this section.
- If you have multiple products and want to close your account, see here.
A few notes
- Only an admin can cancel an account. If you're not an admin, ask your account admin to assist you. If the admin is unavailable, contact our team for help here.
- You can only cancel your account via the web browser or on an iOS device. To cancel using the iOS mobile app, tap More at the bottom of your screen, navigate to Admin settings, and select Delete account.
- Trial users don't need to do anything! Your account will automatically deactivate after the trial ends if you don't upgrade. Want to stop the trial early? Learn how here. As a reminder, no credit card information was taken when you signed up for the free trial.
- Existing customers: before you start, confirm your renewal date in Administration, then select Billing. If your renewal is within the next 30 days, submit your cancellation now to meet the notice requirement.
-
If your subscription is paid by wire transfer (invoice), you cannot cancel it in the Administration section. Please contact your account manager to cancel your subscription.
Canceling an account with one product
Start by clicking on your profile picture and choose Administration from the menu.
Select Billing in the left-hand menu. In the Overview section that opens up, find your product, click on the three-dot menu next to it, and choose Cancel product as shown here:
You will see a message asking you to select your reason for canceling. To continue, choose a reason. You are welcome to provide some details, but you aren't required to provide details to proceed with the cancellation.
Once you have selected a reason, click Cancel product plan.
The next screen shows your plan’s end date. To confirm the cancellation, click Cancel plan renewal. If you are an existing customer, make sure you submit your cancellation at least 30 days before your renewal date so the plan ends at the end of the current term and does not auto-renew.
After the plan renewal is canceled, you can either keep using your account until the plan ends (you'll see the plan end date indicated in red) or click Close your account at the bottom of the page to cancel the account immediately:
On the final screen, you’ll be notified that access to your account data will be lost. To proceed, click Close Account.
Canceling an account with multiple products
Click on your profile picture and choose Administration from the menu.
Select Billing in the left-hand menu. In the Overview section that opens up, find the first product on the list, click on the three-dot menu next to it, and choose Cancel product as shown here:
You will see a message asking you to select your reason for canceling. To continue, choose a reason. You are welcome to provide some details, but you aren't required to provide details to proceed with the cancellation.
Once you have selected a reason, click Cancel product plan.
The next screen shows your plan’s end date. To confirm cancellation, click Cancel plan renewal.
To fully close your account, you need to cancel all products associated with it. For each product in your overview section, click the three-dot menu and select Cancel product as we've done previously:
If you are an existing customer, make sure you submit your cancellation at least 30 days before your renewal date so the plan ends at the end of the current term and does not auto-renew.
Follow the rest of the prompts for each product until all show the red Plan cancelled banner on the billing overview page:
After the plan renewals are canceled, you can either keep using your products until their plans end (you'll see the plan end date indicated in red) or click Close your account at the bottom of the page to close the account immediately:
On the final screen, you’ll be notified that access to your account data will be lost. To proceed, click Close Account.
After you cancel
Once your account is closed, it will be moved to a free trial for 7 days. After the 7 days are up, it will become inactive, and you and your team will no longer be able to sign in.
If you want to delete your data after closing your account, take a look at the Delete your data section of this article.
Move to the Free plan
If you want to switch to the Free plan after canceling your account, ensure that your account is closed and that you have been moved to a free trial. When the trial expires, simply click on Not ready yet? Downgrade to our Free plan as shown below:
Delete your data
Once you cancel your subscription, you will be able to decide whether or not you would like to keep your account's data to access it later or if you would like to delete it.
Currently, our policy is to keep all data available by default so that it will be available in case you would like to access it later. However, we can not guarantee that we will continue this practice indefinitely, and we reserve the right to delete data from an inactive account at any time.
Refund policy
Net-new customers (first-time purchases): You may be eligible for a prorated refund on yearly plans canceled within 30 days of purchase. To request a refund, submit a written request during this 30-day window. When a refund is processed, the account is closed as part of that request. For more details, see the refunds article.
Existing customers: Once a term renews, the subscription continues through the renewed term and refunds do not apply. To avoid renewal, submit your cancellation at least 30 days before your subscription end date.
Monthly plans: Refunds do not apply to monthly renewals.
Unsubscribe from emails
If an email happens to sneak through after your cancellation, please click the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of that email. This should prevent you from receiving any future emails from monday.com.
We're sorry to hear that monday didn't work out for you, and we'd love to know if there's anything we can do to continue working with you! Please write in with any feedback you may have. We hope you will check us out again in the future! 😊
