Looking to add a due date to your items? Or to add a start date and start time to your tasks? Introducing the Date Column that was made just for this. 📅
How to add it
To add the Date Column onto your board, click on the "+" button on the far right of your board and select “Date”:
How it works
Once added, click inside a cell within the column and the date picker will appear. It will open by default to the date of today.
To change the date, you can either manually pick the date for each item on your board by selecting a date from the calendar picker, or, use the text box to instantly type in your date of choice!
In the top right-hand corner of the date picker, you can choose to add the time alongside the date by selecting the "clock" icon
Customize your Date Column
From the Date Column settings, you can customize the way that your dates are presented within the column. To access the Date Column settings, click on the three-dot menu to the right of your column title and then select "Settings" and "Customize Date column", as shown below:
From here, you can choose to:
- Show time by default
- Add an icon to your Date Column cell
- Show the week number
- Customize your date format (more on this below!)
- And sync the column to your calendar
Set date and time preferences
We know that you wanted the ability to control your date and time preferences so we have added these settings to your profile page under the "Language and region" tab.
You can adjust your Date Column time format between 12hr or 24hr and your Date format between MM/DD/YY or DD/MM/YY:
Additionally, for further date customization options, check out the options found in the column settings! Simply hover over "Cell display" and then choose the desired format for your date display within your column cells.
Deadline mode
By setting up "deadline mode" within your Date Column, you can get a clear visualization of whether your item was completed on time, overdue, or there are some days left to complete it to help make sure you and your team stay on track!
To set this up, click on the top right of your column title and choose "Settings" and then "Set as deadline". Once on the page, pick a Status Column from your board (and optional People Column) that you want to synchronize with your Date Column, and you're all set!
Automatic date reminders
You can also add automatic date reminders to your date column to help keep track of what you need to get done! When in the column settings, you can choose "Add / edit date reminders":
Then you can set up an automatic reminder through our amazing monday.com Automations!
You can choose to have the notification sent either on an hour on the day that your Date Column is set to, or a certain number of days before that given date. You can also customize the message that is sent as well as who receives the reminder!
