What can we help you with?

Column permissions

Note:  Column permissions are available on our Pro and Enterprise plans only.

Column permissions give the owner of the board the option to control which column can be seen and/or edited. This is especially helpful if you have some sensitive information you don't want some users to see or change.

How to restrict column edit

This permission allows you to restrict the edit access of columns on your board and choose who can edit it. This is really helpful when you want your team members and guests to be able to collaborate and update a board with the exception of only certain details. This way, you can maintain a good sense of transparency with your team, while making sure that only the right people can edit the right data on your boards.

Note:  Column permissions will not apply to the board owners. Board owners will be able to edit/view all columns regardless of any set restrictions.

To enable column editing restrictions, click on the three-dot menu next to the column title and select "Settings" and then "Restrict column edit" as so:

From there, simply type in a name of a person or team who you want to have the ability to edit that given column. All others who are not added here, aside from the board owners, will not be able to edit that column.

Tip: You can now add a full team of users to column edit or viewing restrictions, allowing the entire team to view or edit the column in the click of a button!

How to restrict column view

With this permission you can restrict the view access of columns on your board and choose who can see it. This will help you make sure that your team members and guests only see the data you'd like them to see, while keeping everything in one board instead of having to manage the same project on multiple boards at a time.

To add column viewing restrictions, click on the three-dot menu to the right of a column name and select "Settings" and then "Restrict column view" as so:

From there, similar to the column editing permissions, type in a name of a person or team who you want to have the ability to view that given column. All others who are not added here, aside from the board owners, will not be able to view that column.

Note:  The Tags Column is not supported with restricting column view.
