Managing a project can be a constant juggle of multiple tasks. There are always twists and turns that can throw a project off of its trajectory. One of the most important aspects of your projects is staying on track with your timeline. Having a visual tool to easily figure out project duration allows your team to be more aware, and thus more efficient. That's why we're excited to introduce our new Gantt Chart critical path feature!
What is a critical path?
A critical path is the longest duration of tasks in your project. A project’s critical path is useful to identify all the individual tasks that must be completed to finish a project on time. When identified, the project manager will have a really clear picture of the actual completion time of the overall project. A critical path makes it easier to visualize your critical tasks, non-critical tasks, and task dependencies, providing you with the clarity you need to manage your project successfully!
How to add it to your Gantt Chart
Add the critical path by clicking on the cogwheel in the upper right corner of your Gantt to access Settings. Scroll down to "Critical Path" and press "Show critical path." Your project's timeline will be highlighted in red to show its critical path—the schedule of events that must be completed on time in order for the overall project to finish on schedule. 🎊
We are excited to bring you this feature to enhance your project planning and give you a more comprehensive Gantt experience! As critical path is considered a trial feature for the time being, we will be sure to keep you updated on which monday.com plans will include it in the future. 😊
