As an account admin, having a high-level view of your account’s content helps you keep things organized, review ownership and access, and maintain security. The Content directory brings all of this information into one place so you can search, filter, and manage content across your account.

How to locate it

To locate the content directory, click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of your screen, select Administration, then Content Directory.

The content displayed

In the content directory, you'll see an overview of all the workspaces, boards, dashboards, and workdocs located in the account. For each item, you can also view details like its owners, members, creation date, last updated date, and where it’s located.

Note: For private boards, dashboards, and workdocs, admins can only view the name and high-level details in the list. If you need access to content shown here, contact your monday.com representative.

The "Last Updated" column

The Last updated column reflects different types of changes depending on the content type.

For boards, most board-level changes update the Last updated value. Updates and exporting a board to Excel won’t update it.

For dashboards, adding or removing widgets updates the Last updated value. Adding or removing boards or filters, and changing widget settings, won’t update it.

For workspaces, the Last updated value changes only when the workspace name or type changes. Adding boards or members won’t update it.

Filter the content

As your account grows, filtering can help you narrow down the content you need. In the content directory, you can filter by workspace, owner, and member to focus on the most relevant results.

Archive or delete content

Once you’ve found the content you’re looking for, you can clean it up directly from the Content directory. This is especially helpful when you’re reviewing older workspaces, organizing content after team changes, or auditing content ownership across the account.

To take action, click the three-dot menu next to the item’s name. From there, you can select Archive to remove content from active use without permanently deleting it, or select Delete when the content should be removed entirely.

If Delete is unavailable, hover over it to see why. For example, for private content, you may see “Only owners can delete private content.” In that case, select Add yourself as owner (when available) and try again, or ask an owner to delete the item.

Export the content

If you’d like to export your Content directory results, click Export all to CSV. Depending on the size of your account, exports can take some time to prepare.

You don’t need to keep the Content directory open while the export is running. Next to Export all to CSV, click the dropdown arrow to open Export history and view the most recent exports for the account. When an export is ready, click it in the dropdown to download the file.

Tip: Each export in the dropdown includes a status so you can quickly see what’s happening: Export ready means the file is available to download, Preparing export means it’s still generating, and Export failed means it didn’t complete successfully.
