There are two types of text columns that can be added to your board: the text column and the Long Text Column, which is the same as the Text Column but longer 😊 Both can be used to add text related to your item. It is a good idea to have everything visible on your board rather than clicking inside each item to check the updates.
Add a Text Column
To a Text Column, click on the "+" icon located on the top right of your board and select "More Columns". In the search bar at the top of the column center, search for "Text". From here, you can choose whether to add a normal Text Column or a Long Text Column.
Once added, you can type your text into the column cell! By hovering over the cell, a window will appear showing you all the text in that cell. For different setting options to display the text on your board, read the section below.
Display your text
For Text Columns that have long text inserted, you can choose to either adjust the item height or wrap the text to display the entire cell.
- Adjust item height
To adjust the item height on your board, click on the three dots at the top and select the "arrow" icon. From the dropdown menu, you can select either "Single," "Double," or "Triple" height. Whichever setting you choose will be applied to all the cells on your board.
Extending the item length won't necessarily display all the text in the Text column, especially if the text is lengthy. To ensure that all text is displayed, see the "Wrap text" option below.
- Wrap text display
In order to display all the text in your Text column, you can choose to "Wrap text" the column. This setting will alter the item height to fit all the text in your Text Column, ensuring that you can see everything written in the cell.
Click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of your Text Column, and select "Wrap text" from the dropdown menu that appears.
If you wrap a Text Column on your main table, the setting will not be saved automatically. However, when you wrap a Text Column in one of your Board Views, the setting will be saved automatically. To unwrap the Text Column, click on the three-dot column menu and select "Unwrap text".
