The journey of mondayDB, the proprietary data engine behind the WorkOS platform, continues to reach new heights. mondayDB 3.0 is here! 💥

How it works

While mondayDB 2.0 was dedicated to scale, mondayDB 3.0 takes it a giant leap further. Built on a unique technology called DuckDB, mondayDB 3.0 makes querying massive datasets nearly instant, enabling a 10x to 1000x jump in platform scale. It allows Data sets to grow from 100K items to 1M items, and up to 10M items in upcoming releases, while delivering the same smooth, familiar monday.com experience.

mondayDB 3.0 was designed to address three core needs:

  • Flexibility: support for unique workflows with different board structures
  • Dynamic: frequent structural changes to workflows are made easier and more efficient.
  • Elasticity: built to scale to billions of boards and ever-increasing connections between them.

Note: The advancement of 1M items in a Data set is only available on monday CRM and monday campaigns.

Release timeline

mondayDB 3.0 is being released in two phases:

  • Phase 1: Focuses on the Scale of our Products, increasing item scale to 1M items and Portfolio scale to 5,000 Projects
  • Phase 2: Focuses on Agentic use cases, increases the item scale to 10M items, and the batch action scale to 10,000 items

Note: The above timeline outlines current plans; however, it is not a commitment. Plans may change at monday.com's sole discretion.

Capabilities it provides

Enterprise accounts can look forward to a significant increase in platform limits, enabling larger, more complex workflows than ever before. You can build larger boards and dashboards than ever before, enabling a 10x to 1000x increase in scale.

The initial scale capabilities include:

  • 1M items per board, with 10M items coming in future releases
  • 5,000 projects in portfolio/boards in a dashboard, with 10,000 in upcoming releases

What to expect

Boards and Dashboards running on mondayDB 3.0 will load significantly faster, especially for large boards or dashboards with more than 10,000 items, subitems, or connections. As scale capabilities roll out, boards will support up to 1M items, and beyond, with the same experience you would expect from a 1,000-item board.

Show me some limitations to keep in mind with increased limits:
  • Filtering on Mirror and Formula columns will be partially supported until the end of June. If you face slowness when using such filters, please submit a support ticket.
  • Dashboard item limits apply to both items in the connected boards and items linked from other boards

FAQ's

Do I need to do anything to get mondayDB 3.0?

The upgrade to mondayDB 3.0 is automatic and gradual. No action is required on your part.

Will my boards and dashboards load faster right away?

For most accounts whose boards contain fewer than 1,000 items, the improvement may not be immediately noticeable. Accounts with larger boards (10K+ items, subitems, or connections) should see a significant improvement in latency.

Does mondayDB 3.0 immediately give me access to 1M items per board?

The 1M items per board capability is currently in Beta, and available to CRM users in the Enterprise tier. To gain access, please submit a support ticket or contact your account manager.

My board still loads slowly. What should I do?

If your board has high connectivity (many connected boards or items), or relies heavily on formula calculations, you may still face slowness. Avoiding searching or filtering on mirror or formula columns may improve your experience.

Does mondayDB 3.0 cost money?

All mondayDB 3.0 performance enhancements are free of charge. In the future, additional scale functionalities that have not yet been developed may require payment.
