The journey of mondayDB, the proprietary data engine behind the WorkOS platform, continues to reach new heights. mondayDB 3.0 is here! 💥
How it works
While mondayDB 2.0 was dedicated to scale, mondayDB 3.0 takes it a giant leap further. Built on a unique technology called DuckDB, mondayDB 3.0 makes querying massive datasets nearly instant, enabling a 10x to 1000x jump in platform scale. It allows Data sets to grow from 100K items to 1M items, and up to 10M items in upcoming releases, while delivering the same smooth, familiar monday.com experience.
mondayDB 3.0 was designed to address three core needs:
- Flexibility: support for unique workflows with different board structures
- Dynamic: frequent structural changes to workflows are made easier and more efficient.
- Elasticity: built to scale to billions of boards and ever-increasing connections between them.
Release timeline
mondayDB 3.0 is being released in two phases:
- Phase 1: Focuses on the Scale of our Products, increasing item scale to 1M items and Portfolio scale to 5,000 Projects
- Phase 2: Focuses on Agentic use cases, increases the item scale to 10M items, and the batch action scale to 10,000 items
Capabilities it provides
Enterprise accounts can look forward to a significant increase in platform limits, enabling larger, more complex workflows than ever before. You can build larger boards and dashboards than ever before, enabling a 10x to 1000x increase in scale.
The initial scale capabilities include:
- 1M items per board, with 10M items coming in future releases
- 5,000 projects in portfolio/boards in a dashboard, with 10,000 in upcoming releases
What to expect
Boards and Dashboards running on mondayDB 3.0 will load significantly faster, especially for large boards or dashboards with more than 10,000 items, subitems, or connections. As scale capabilities roll out, boards will support up to 1M items, and beyond, with the same experience you would expect from a 1,000-item board.
