We've updated our default hosting locations to give accounts more choice and transparency about where your data is stored and which region hosts it. All data is hosted in a single primary Data Region based on your account setup. In some cases, certain sub-processors may operate in additional regions, as explained in the section “Where is my data stored?”.
Currently, monday.com data may be hosted in the US Data Region, the EU Data Region, or the APAC Data Region. All regions are storage and processing facilities operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS).
How is my account’s data region determined?
Your account’s data region is set automatically based on the location of the first user who opens the account. Once set, all Customer Data is stored in that primary region.
If you need a different region, you’ll need a new account to be created in that location. See “Can I change my data region?” below for details.
EU Data Region
Storing data in the EU Data Region is available for Enterprise plans, and for Standard and Pro plans created on or after January 23, 2023.
APAC Data Region
Some accounts created in APAC may be hosted in the APAC Data Region.
However, for these accounts, certain data processed by our sub-processors may still be hosted outside of APAC, as detailed in the Global Data Region section of our Sub-Proccessors page.
What is a Data Region?
A Data Region is a geographical region where Customer Data (as defined below) is physically stored.
- If you are located in the EU, Africa, or the Middle East, your data is stored in our EU Data Region.
- If you are in North or South America, Southern or Southeast Asia, or Oceania, your data is stored in our US Data Region.
- Some accounts in APAC are hosted in the APAC Data Region (see section above).
What type of data is stored there?
- Customer Data: All data uploaded to your monday.com account by account members (files, images, items, updates, etc.) that is processed by monday.com on your behalf. Customer Data is stored in your account’s primary Data Region.
- monday.com-controlled data: Information such as user credentials, profiles, usage analytics, automation metadata, and monday Apps is stored in the default US Data Region.
To learn more about the data we control and process, see our Privacy Policy and DPA.
Where is my data stored?
You can see where your data is hosted in the Admin section of your account. Click on your profile picture in the bottom right corner of your screen and select Administration. In the General tab, go to Profile, and under Your data is stored in you’ll see your region listed:
Only Enterprise customers on the EU Data Region have their Customer Data solely hosted within the EU Data Region, including data stored by sub-processors. A list of EU sub-processors is available here.
For Standard and Pro accounts hosted in the EU Data Region, Customer Data may also be processed in the United States. These transfers rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses as an authorized mechanism under GDPR. See more details here.
Additional Data Regions are under review and may be announced in the future.
Can I change my data region?
Since data is physically stored in a predetermined location, once an account begins storing data it cannot be moved. If you want to switch to a different region, contact your local partner or Enterprise account manager to create a new account hosted in the region of your choice going forward.
Does the data region affect how you use monday.com?
Your data region does not affect the core user experience on monday.com. However, some features may be impacted, such as:
- Templates: Some ready-made templates are not yet available for accounts in the EU Data Region.
- New features: Features may roll out gradually by location, so accounts in some data regions may receive them later.
We’re working to make all features available across all data regions.
