Creating a public template in monday vibe lets you copy any app you have built to another monday.com account using a single public template link. Instead of rebuilding an app from scratch for each account, you generate a link, open it, and install an independent copy in any account and workspace you choose.

This is useful for deploying a demo app to a customer account, sharing an app with a colleague so they can build on it, or submitting an app to the Vibe library as a community template.

How duplicating an app works

When you duplicate an app, the copy is fully independent. It is not linked to the original and does not sync with it. Each copy must be published separately in its new account.

You can also use a public template link within the same account to create a self-duplicate.

Note: If your account is on an Enterprise plan, an admin must enable the Generate public Vibe templates permission before you can create a public template link.

How to duplicate an app to another account

1 Open your app in the Vibe builder and click the next to the app name in the top-left of the builder.

2 Select Create public template link.

3 Copy the generated link and open it in a new tab, either in the same browser session or share it with the relevant person.

4 Choose an app name, the account to install into, and the workspace, then confirm to complete the installation.

Tip: Avoid submitting apps that contain sensitive data as public templates, since anyone with the link can install a copy of the app.

Once you've copied the link, you can share it or paste it in a new browser tab. Here you can configure the app by choosing a name, the account you want to share it with, and the workspace you want it to live in.

Where to find the app

Once the app has been copied to your account and workspace, you can find it in your My apps section, under the options on the left of your Vibe home page.

Note: The copied app will remain in draft mode until you publish it in the vibe builder.

Things to keep in mind

  • Each copy is independent and does not stay in sync with the original app after duplication.
  • The copied app must be published separately in its new account before it is live.
  • On Enterprise accounts, the Generate public Vibe templates permission must be enabled by an admin before a builder can generate a template link.
  • Do not use public template links for apps that contain or connect to sensitive data.

FAQs

Can I duplicate a Vibe app to another account?

Yes. Generate a public template link from the Vibe builder and open it in a new tab to install a copy of the app in any account you have access to.

Does the duplicate stay in sync with the original app?

No. Each copy is fully independent after duplication. Changes to the original do not affect the copy, and vice versa.

Why can't I create a public template link in my Vibe app?

If your account is on an Enterprise plan, an admin must first enable the Generate public Vibe templates permission. Contact your account admin to have this enabled.

Do I need to publish the duplicated app separately?

Yes. After the app is installed in the new account, you need to publish it separately before it goes live in that account.

Can I duplicate a Vibe app within the same account?

Yes. The public template link works within the same account as well, so you can use it to create a self-duplicate for testing or repurposing.
