Are you looking to keep the whole team in the loop by seamlessly sending messages from monday.com to Slack? Instantly turn updates into messages in Slack so everyone will have the most up-to-date information and be able to work from both platforms and stay synchronized!
With the monday.com integration for Slack, you will also be able to create new items and leave updates on existing items - all without leaving Slack!
How to add it to your workflow
Step 1

Step 2
Once you click on the Slack integration banner, you will find the many different recipes that our integration offers! Simply select the integration you wish to use in order to proceed.
Step 3
Once you've selected one of the recipes, you will be asked to connect your monday.com account with your Slack account. Follow the steps on your screen to authorize the connection between your monday.com account and Slack.
Now you have successfully connected your account to Slack, and can start building recipes to communicate more efficiently with your team!
Configure your recipes
Once you've chosen a recipe and authorized monday.com to integrate with Slack, you will get to the integration window. This is where you will be able to configure the chosen recipe, customize the message that will be sent, and choose to whom it will be sent!
With the Slack integration, you can choose to notify specific people, everyone, or people within a specific channel. Read on below to see how this can be done.
'Mention' specific people in a Slack message
You can mention someone in Slack through the integration by using the Slack user ID of that person. To do so, go to your Slack account and search for the user's profile. Next, click on the three dots menu and select "copy member ID" as shown below.
Once done, go back to your integration recipe and use the following syntax: <@memberID> . Here for example, we want to notify Dan, our video editor, as soon as a script is completed.
Now, as soon as the status changes to "Done", Dan will then receive the following message in Slack. 🎉
Mention all active teammates in a channel
When using Slack, you can use "@here" when you want to notify only those who are currently online in any channel you’re a member of. To write "@here" in your message when using the Slack integration, simply use <!here> in the notification text within your integration, as shown below.
Mention a specific channel
Similar to the recipe above, if you'd like to mention an entire channel (all team members in a channel, whether they are online or offline), use <channel> in the notification text in your integration.
Create items and updates directly from Slack
- Create a new item directly from Slack
With the Slack shortcut feature, Slack users with login credentials on your monday.com account can instantly create new items, such as tasks or projects, directly from Slack conversations. Leave important items on monday.com so nothing gets left behind. (The Slack commands are still supported and usable if you prefer using those instead of the new shortcuts!)
To create a new item directly from a Slack conversation, click on the shortcut icon and select "Browse all shortcuts", choose monday.com, and then "Create a new item".
Next, customize the item you'd like to create. You can even add an update that will display in the Updates Section of your item on monday.com.
- Create updates directly from Slack
With the new shortcut feature, Slack users with login credentials on your monday.com account can also add updates to existing items (tasks or projects) directly from Slack to make sure nothing falls between cracks.
Similar to above, click to locate the monday.com shortcut, and select "Create an item update on monday.com" this time around. From there, type the update you'd like to post and select the board, the group, and the item in your monday.com account and click "Submit"!
Send direct messages in Slack
With our Slack integration, you can send direct messages in Slack without leaving your monday.com account!
You can pick the specific person you'd like the message to be sent to and customize your message! 🙌
Receive monday.com notifications in Slack
With a new beta Slack Integration, you can check your important monday.com notifications right inside Slack. Let's take a look at how it works.
How does it work?
When you receive a monday.com notification in Slack, it appears just like all your other direct messages! Depending on your settings, you'll typically see the notification pop up on the right-hand corner of your desktop, and hear the sound that means you've received a new notification!
To view the notification, scroll to the bottom of your left panel under "Apps", and expand the monday.com conversation! From here, you can see a preview of the notification, and can even "Like" it right from within Slack!
How do I set it up?
This feature is enabled across your entire account, which means that only one person in your account has to enable or disable this feature for everyone in your account. So if you are the first one in your account to get to it - what do you do?
- If you are setting it up for the first time
Click your profile picture, then click "My profile" and enter the "Notifications" tab. Now, expand the Slack Notifications section, and click "Enable Slack Notifications" to start the integration setup!
Now, you'll be able to see what monday.com will be able to do and view once this integration is set up. You can click the arrow beside the terms for more information. If you agree with these permissions, click "Allow", and on the next screen, "Authorize".
- If it is already set up by someone else
While only one person from your monday.com account needs to initially set up the integration, each individual team member must complete one final step. When you try to "Like" your first notification in Slack, you will receive an error message. Simply click "Authorize" in order to complete set-up!
- How can I disable it?
If you don't want to receive your monday.com notifications within Slack, you can mute them! Head to Slack and scroll down to the bottom of your left pane, where your apps are listed. Right-click on the monday.com app, and then click "Mute conversation" like this:
If you ever want to re-enable your notifications, you can follow the same steps, but this time, click "Unmute conversation"!
