How to open the developer console

 

The developer console is a tool that logs information about the back end operations of the sites you visit and applications you run. The information logged in the console can be used to help developers solve any issues that may arise.

If you've been asked to provide a screenshot of your dev console, read on to see instructions for the browser or application you're using.

 

Chrome and Firefox

For Chrome

1 Press Cmd + Option + J (on a Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + J (on Windows) to open the developer console

2 Alternatively, right-click on the page and select Inspect to open the developer console

 

For Firefox

1 Press Cmd + Option + K (on a Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + J (on Windows) to open the developer console

2 Alternatively, right-click on the page and click Inspect Element to show the developer console

From there, repeat the action that is causing you trouble and take a full screenshot of the Console dialogue.

 

Safari

1 To do this, click on Safari in the Mac menu bar at the top of your screen

2 Click on Settings

3 Once you have the Preferences dialog box open, click on Advanced at the top

4 Check the checkbox next to Show features for web developers

You can then exit the window.

 

To open the console, you can use this keyboard shortcut: Cmd + Option + C.

As an alternative, you can right click on the page and click on Inspect Element, and the developer console will appear.Group 1 - 2025-10-29T130429.000.png

 

In the window that opens, click on the Console tab.

Microsoft Edge

To open the console in Microsoft Edge, you can use the following shortcut: Control + Shift + I. As an alternative, you can right click and click on Inspect from the menu:

monday Desktop App

To open the console in the monday.com Desktop App, you can click on Developer Console from the View menu on your toolbar.
