Overview
When you send a campaign to contacts who exist in monday CRM, email activity is automatically logged in the contact’s Emails & Activities timeline. Your sales team can see when a contact received, opened, or clicked a campaign email — directly from the contact item in CRM.
There’s no setup required. The integration runs automatically in the background and does not affect campaign sending.
With this integration, your marketing and sales teams stay aligned. Campaign engagement is visible directly inside each contact’s CRM timeline — giving your team immediate context without switching between products.
How it works
When a campaign is sent, monday campaigns matches each recipient’s email address against contacts stored in your CRM contact boards.
If a match is found and an email event occurs, a timeline entry is automatically added to that contact’s Emails & Activities timeline.
How contacts are matched
Matching is based strictly on email address:
- Matching is case-insensitive (for example, John@Company.com matches john@company.com).
- Contacts must exist in monday CRM before the campaign is sent. Contacts added after the send will not receive timeline entries for that campaign.
- If a contact exists in multiple monday CRM boards, timeline entries will appear on all matching contact items.
- Only monday CRM Contact boards are supported. Leads, Deals, or custom boards are not included in matching.
If contact matching fails for any reason, your campaign is still sent as normal.
Email events that are tracked
Three types of campaign email events are logged to the Emails & Activities timeline. Each event generates its own timeline entry:
| Event | Timeline title | What it means |
| Email delivered | Email delivered | Indicates that the campaign email was successfully delivered to the contact. |
| Email opened | Email opened | Indicates that the contact opened the campaign email. |
| Link clicked | Link clicked | Indicates that the contact clicked a link inside the campaign email. |
What appears on the E&A timeline
Each timeline entry includes:
- Campaign name — The name of the campaign that triggered the event
- Event type — Delivered, Opened, or Clicked
- Timestamp — The date and time the event occurred
- Link to campaign — A direct link back to the campaign in monday campaigns
For Email Delivered events, the timeline entry also includes:
- An email preview image
- The total number of recipients in the campaign
Timeline entries are created automatically and are read-only. They cannot be manually edited or deleted.
