How WorkCanvas plans work
WorkCanvas in monday.com is available through a Freemium experience and a paid Pro experience. All accounts start with free access to core canvas functionality, and an upgrade is only required when usage reaches specific limits or advanced features are needed.
| Capability | Freemium | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Create and edit canvases | Yes | Yes |
| Canvas and element limits | Yes | No |
| Advanced canvas features | No | Yes |
| Seat-based editing control | No | Yes |
Freemium WorkCanvas experience
The Freemium WorkCanvas experience allows teams to explore visual collaboration and core canvas functionality, with clear usage limits in place.
What you can do:
- Create and edit canvases
- Collaborate visually using core canvas elements
- Manage canvases without admin-only restrictions
WorkCanvas Pro experience
Upgrading to the paid Pro WorkCanvas experience removes freemium limits, enabling advanced collaboration and sharing capabilities.
With Pro, you can:
- Create canvases without usage limits
- Use advanced canvas features
- Control editing access through seat assignments
Upgrade to Pro
Once you reach a limitation on the Freemium experience, a window will appear instructing you to upgrade in order to perform the desired action. If you are an admin of the account you can choose to upgrade to WorkCanvas Pro to continue using the product on the account.
The upgrade works by purchasing a number of seats for WorkCanvas Pro, that you can then assign to specific users on your account. You will therefore be able to select the number of seats you would like to purchase for your account from the window that follows:
Editing access and assigned seats
Once your account has been upgraded to WorkCanvas Pro, editing access is managed through seat assignments. This ensures that only the relevant people on your account can utilize WorkCanvas and edit canvases that they have access to.
If you are not assigned a seat within the WorkCanvas add-on, you will receive the following notice explaining that you only have the ability to view the canvas. If you attempt to make any edits to the canvas, the same window will appear. You can select Request License which will notify an admin on your account that you are requesting access to WorkCanvas on the account.
As an admin on the account you can assign seats to users on your account via the Administration section. To allocate seats to users click on your Profile icon in the top right corner, select Administration from the dropdown menu, click on Directory in the left-hand pane, and select Users.
From the Users page, click on the Products column next to a users name. A box will appear with all the available products on your account. To assign a seat to the user, select the checkbox next to the product name. The user will then have access to the full WorkCanvas Pro experience on the account and can edit existing canvases that they have access to.
