This guide will walk you through how to integrate monday MCP with Gemini CLI.
How to connect monday MCP with Gemini CLI
Prerequisites:
- Install Gemini CLI
- MCP is preinstalled on all monday.com accounts. If you can't connect, ask your admin to check Admin → Permissions → AI Connectors. See Managing AI Connectors & MCP Access for more information.
Navigate to the Gemini CLI Extensions page and search for or scroll down to find the monday extension.
Click on the extension and then copy the command line instructions to install the extension:
Navigate to the command line and paste in this line to install it.
After installation is done, launch Gemini CLI using the gemini command:
gemini
This will open up the OAuth authentication for monday MCP:
Click on Approve and then Authorize on the following page.
You can use the command /extensions to see all currently connected MCPs.
/extensions
You should see the active and up to date Installed monday extension listed there.
Testing the connection
Test it out by typing in:
Update the task for adding a Gemini CLI extension on board [board ID] to have a status of Done
When prompted to allow execution of MCP tool "change_item_column_values" from server "monday", choose the value you prefer:
To continue with the task, we have selected 1. Yes, allow once.
Once loading has finished, navigate to the corresponding monday board to see the added item and changed status:
