monday MCP is the hosted server that gives AI tools secure access to your monday.com workspace. It connects your account directly to AI assistants like Claude, Cursor, and Copilot Studio through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for AI integrations.
Prerequisites
- An active monday.com account with appropriate permissions
- MCP is preinstalled on all monday.com accounts.
If you can't connect, ask your admin to check Admin → Permissions → AI Connectors. See Managing AI Connectors & MCP Access for more information. - Supported AI client
- OAuth consent for monday MCP when prompted by your client
What can you do with monday MCP?
- Project reporting – generate sprint summaries, team performance reports, and deadline tracking from your boards (including monday dev sprints)
- Smart task management – convert meeting notes into structured items, assign tasks, and update statuses through natural language
- Cross-team visibility – ask for rollups like “What’s blocking the launch?” across Product, Marketing, and RevOps boards
- Operational workflows – create and triage incidents, support requests, and ops checklists (with clear owners, priority, and due dates)
- CRM workflows – create leads and deals, update pipeline stages, and log next steps from call notes
- Docs + knowledge workflows – create specs, SOPs, and retros as monday docs (in a workspace or attached to an item)
- Dashboards & insights – build dashboards and widgets, and answer questions using board insights (such as status distribution, workload, and throughput)
- Workspace discovery – quickly find the right board, doc, form, or folder, even in large workspaces
Key use cases
- Quick data retrieval – ask for board status, find items, or summarize what changed this week
- Task creation and cleanup – turn a meeting transcript into tasks with owners, priority, and due dates
- Updating existing work – update status, people, or date fields when plans change, with human review before applying changes
- Cross-board analysis – ask questions like “What’s overdue across all launch boards?” or “Which team has the most blockers?”
- Executive reporting – create weekly rollups such as shipped vs. planned, scope changes, and risk summaries
- Support and Service operations – intake requests, link relevant context, and keep stakeholders updated through item updates
- Documentation workflows – generate a spec in monday docs and attach it to the relevant initiative item
- Automation-style chains – run multi-step flows like “Create a bug, assign it, set severity, and notify the team in an update”
Note: Other tools that support the Model Context Protocol should also be compatible, though individual setup steps may vary
