If you've ever felt that your organization needs a merger between waterfall and agile in order to give all teams a unified view of projects across the organization, we have the solution for you. monday dev users can create an Agile project from selected epics, which are then copied and synced into a new project entity on monday work management. How amazing is that?

Where to find the Agile portfolio project

In order to get started, navigate to the + sign button next to your workspace. Then hover over the Dev templates in the dropdown menu, and then click on Agile portfolio project.

Setting up the Agile portfolio project

Name your project and then click on Next:

Next you will have to choose which epics to track. Select your epics board and then which specific epics you need to keep track of:Screenshot 2025-07-17 at 13.29.59 1.png

Afterwards, you'll need to match epics with project columns so you can be aligned on how everything will look in the work management portfolio project:Screenshot 2025-07-17 at 13.32.29 1.png

The final step will ask you to map status labels by using the drag and drop tool to match labels from your epics board to match the default statuses used in new projects:Untitled design - 2025-07-17T153615.610.gif

You can add multiple epic status labels into project status labels. When you've finished matching the labels, click in Create project.

Once your project is created, you will see it in your workspace:Group 1 - 2025-07-17T160611.006.png

You can add more epics to your project by click on the Edit Project button at the top of your board. Once your project is ready, it's time to navigate to work management.

Merging portoflio from dev to work management

When you would like to merge your dev project into work management, open your workspace and then the portfolio you'd like to add it to.

Creating a new portfolio
If you need to add a new portfolio, you can do so by clicking on the + sign button next to your workspace and clicking on Portfolio under the Add new section of the dropdown menu:Group 1 - 2025-07-17T163635.324.png

Name the portfolio and then click on continue:

On the following screen, you'll be asked to configure details of your project. When you're done, click on Create:Screenshot 2025-07-17 at 16.33.34 1.png

Once you have created your portfolio, click on Add project and then select the dev project you want to add:Group 1 - 2025-07-17T163919.184.png

Once the project loads, it will be added to your work management portfolio as seen below:Screenshot 2025-07-17 at 16.43.42 1.png

Note: There is a one-way sync between the two projects, in the direction going from monday dev to work management. That means that any changes made on the work management project board will not affect the epics board.

Now you can enjoy the benefits of seamless integration and teamwork across monday products!
