Note: The claim domains feature is only available for account admins on the Enterprise plan

How to locate it

To locate the claim domains feature, start by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner of your account and selecting "Administration". From the admin section of your account, select "Security" from the left side and then click into the "Claim domain" tab, as shown below.

How it works

The claim domain feature gives account admins the ability to verify the ownership of all their business domains and to prevent others from creating additional monday.com accounts from the claimed domains if they so wish. It is also possible to use this feature to connect a business domain with a monday.com account without blocking new account creations from that domain.

How to enable it on your account

Once you've entered the claim domain area, click on the "Claim a domain" button:

After clicking on this, a window will open where you will need to enter your business domains that you wish to claim (you can add multiple here!). Once you finish adding all of your domains to the list, click on the "Next" button on the bottom right.

Tip: You can claim more than one domain by using the "+" sign or by pasting a list of domains separated by a comma (For example: test.com, testabc.com)

In the next window you will see the unique TXT record that you will have to add into the DNS provider for each one of your domains that you're looking to claim. Simply click on the "Copy" button to copy the TXT record and paste it into the DNS provider for each domain that you're looking to verify.

Once you have completed adding it to all of the domains, click on "Claim a domain" to initiate the domain verification process.

Adding the TXT to the DNS record of your domain depends on your chosen DNS. For an explanation on how to complete this step, we recommend locating documentation for your specific DNS.

Here are a few examples of common DNS providers explaining how to set this up:

Note: The domain verification process can take up to 48 hours to complete from the moment the TXT record has been set with your DNS provider.

Once you've completed the steps above, the domains that you're looking to claim (or have been claimed already) will appear in the claim domain section. At the bottom of the screen, you can choose if you'd like to allow new accounts to be created with these domains, or if you'd prefer to block new account creation with these domains altogether.

Claiming subdomains

Claiming a domain doesn't claim it's subdomains automatically, and therefore each subdomain needs to be individually claimed. For example, claiming Companyname.com will not automatically claim eu.Companyname.com or us.Companyname.com, and therefore you will need to claim each one of them separately.

Explanation on status of verification

Once you've completed the steps above, you'll notice an indication of the status of your domain verification on the right side of the screen under the "Status" column. Keep reading to learn more in depth about what each of these statuses mean!

  • Waiting for DNS verification

Once you claimed a domain, monday.com will periodically check for the presence of the TXT token in the DNS records of your domain. During this verification period the status will be shown as "Waiting for DNS verification".

  • Verified

Once the domain was verified the status will change to "Verified". From this moment, your domain is claimed and you can control if users from your domains can or cannot create accounts with your claimed domains.

  • Failed verification

When monday.com failed to detect a TXT record with the value of your token, after 7 days the status will change to "Failed verification". If the TXT record is subsequently detected correctly, the verification status will update to "Verified".

Note: When monday.com fails to verify a previously verified domain, the account admin(s) will be notified and there will be a grace period before the domain is unclaimed. After multiple failed verifications the domain will revert to being unclaimed.
