How does it work?
Step 1: Choose your boards
Once added choose the boards you would like to get data from:
In this example, let's say we are building four new restaurants for our chain. This is our main project. Each restaurant is a board. In each of this board, we have a number column keeping track of the cost. The goal is to see the overall cost of the four restaurant together.
Step 2: Choose the number column
Then choose the specific numbers column that you would like to count in each board:
You will see the option to select all of them or just a select few columns you want to see. This is great if you see a total sum of multiple numbers column across boards, or if you want to select specific columns to see in that section. In this example, we have a numbers column in each board keeping track of the restaurant's budget. We now selected them to see all those 3 numbers column in the counter widget!
Step 3: Select the groups
Finally, select the specific groups from the boards you chose:
This is great if you want to see a particular group, or all your groups combined! Let's say on each restaurant we only want to see the progress of the operations department, we will select "operations". You can also select everything if you want to see the progress of all the groups.
How to customize the widget?
Click on "Sum" at the bottom of the number to select the Unit and the Function of the number displayed:
For instance, if we want to see the total costs in USD:
Continuing on our restaurant example, you could create one widget to track the costs of a specific group across many boards. In this case, we have 3 widgets where we see the total costs of Operations, Finance, and Marketing costs across multiple boards:
The Counter widget is great to get an overall sense of where projects stand numbers wise, and to track down total costs or numbers of multiple boards in one place! Use as many widgets as you'd like to organize all your information in an accessible, organized and visual way!
