Jira connection resolution

If you've received an error message regarding one of your Jira recipes, one of the sections below will correspond with your error message. Each of this article's sections was designed to identify the cause of the error and to present you with the steps to solve the problem and get your Jira connection back up and running smoothly. It's important to note that these errors are related to Jira's API, and are simply presented to you in monday.com to notify you of any interruptions.

Note: Each of the following error messages will generate a bell notification, a banner on the recipe in the Integration Center on your board, and a failure message in the automation activity log

Missing mandatory field

This error will occur when a mandatory field in Jira has been configured but is missing in the item involved in the app's integration. The 'x' in the recipe is dynamic, and will represent the missing field.

When you see this error, you know that one of the two following conditions has been met:

  • Condition 1 - the mandatory Jira field has not been mapped to a monday.com column in the app configuration
  • Condition 2 - the mandatory Jira field has been mapped, however, there is no data relevant to this column

Message:

  • Error message 1: JIRA Integration has failed. ⚠️️ Notice! An error has occurred due to missing 'x' mandatory field. Click here to learn more.

How to solve it

You can solve this issue by heading into the integration recipe and mapping the required Jira field into an existing monday.com column. Also, be sure to take a look at this column within your board and make sure that the data has actually been inputted so that the app could pick it up and trigger properly.

Invalid dropdown value selection

If you make an invalid dropdown value selection, you will receive the error message pictured below. This is because the value selected in the monday.com column needs to be identical to the static value options in Jira in order for the app to recognize the selection.

  • Error message 2: JIRA Integration has failed. ⚠️️ Notice! An error has occurred due to an invalid dropdown value selection. Click here to learn more.

How to solve it

You can solve this issue by double checking the dropdown values in Jira and matching those values in the monday.com column options.

Invalid selection

If you map a monday.com column to a field in Jira that has a defined value already set, the values must match. If you make an invalid selection in monday.com that does not match the Jira field, your app will not trigger and you will receive one of the following errors:
  • Error messages 3-6:
    • JIRA Integration has failed. ⚠️️ Notice! An error has occurred due to an invalid priority selection.Click here to learn more.

How to solve it

You can solve any of these issue by double checking the values in Jira and matching those values to the corresponding monday.com column. Please note that in order to successfully trigger the automation, the values in Jira and in monday.com must be identical.

Change in Jira credentials or time-out

If there has been a change in your Jira credentials or log-in information, involving either your Jira password or the email associated with your Jira account, your Jira app will be disabled, and all recipes will cease to function. This is because essentially the permission you have given to monday.com to access your Jira account has been withdrawn from monday.com. This can also happen if the Jira app has not been utilized for two or more months, which has disabled the connection.

  • Error message 7: Your JIRA Integration has been deactivated ⚠️️ Notice! Your Integration has stopped working due to a change in your JIRA credentials or log-in. Click here to learn more.

Note: This error message will disable the Jira app.

How to solve it

In order to reactivate your recipes, simply re-authenticate your Jira app using your new Jira credentials! If there has been no change to your credentials, simply re-authenticate using the same steps as you had taken to set up the app initially.

Jira permissions

monday.com respects the privacy and permissions set in your Jira account, and will not integrate information that you do not have permission to view or edit. In order to successfully connect the Jira app and trigger recipes, you must have permission to access the Jira content you are requesting to integrate into monday.com.

Permissions within Jira that must be granted in order to use the Jira app include but are not limited to:

  • Permissions set on Jira projects
  • Permissions set on issue creation
  • Permissions set on fields

  • Error message 8: Your JIRA Integration has been deactivated ⚠️️ Notice! Your Integration has stopped working due to missing permissions in JIRA. Click here to learn more.
