Manage client tax returns with monday.com

As any accountant knows, the process of handling tax returns for clients consists of many moving parts. Tax return board

In order to manage all aspects of our tax return workflow and gather important data metrics, we built out the board below!

 

We structured our tax return board as so: 

  • Groups: To organize the board based on the year that each tax return takes place in.
  • Items: To represent the clients that we are completing tax returns for.
  • Columns: Here, we used the People, Status Column, Date, Time Tracking Column, and more to gather data points and to gain a holistic view of each clients tax return.
Tip: Have a list of your clients ready in Excel? Check out our import from Excel to easily populate your list of clients directly onto your board!

 

Zoom into details with Subitems

While the board that we prepared shows us a great high-level view of where all of our tax returns stand, we implemented Subitems on our board to provide us with the lower-level details that we need in order to complete each one of our tax returns.

Use a form to gather applications

To make handling applications from potential clients easier than ever, try adding the Form View onto your board! By doing so, you can easily transform the columns on your board into questions on a shareable form.

Send out the form to potential clients or embed it onto your website. Every new submission will populate directly onto your board as a new item for you to track! 🙌

 

Automate it!

To take your tax return workflow up a notch and reduce manual work that needs to be done, you can add several monday.com Automations onto your board.

By adding various automations, such as the recipes above, you can ensure that you are working as efficiently as possible while monday.com takes care of the tedious work for you!

Integrate with other platforms

As an accountant, you may be juggling multiple different platforms which you use to complete your work and communicate with your clients. With our integrations, you can easily connect external platforms to your monday.com board to streamline processes from various applications.

To help make our tax return process more efficient, we've utilized the below Gmail Integration to automatically send an email to our client with the completed tax return document as soon as the Return status has been marked as "Completed". 🙌
