Do you have certain information that you need to see on several different boards? Rather than copying the same information manually into every single board and then running around to update each one, you can just 'mirror' the information! The Mirror Column will display information from one board in as many other boards as you want! Let's check out how you can add it and use it with your mobile app! 

Note: In order to add the Mirror Column, you'll need to have the Connect Boards Column. The Connect Boards Column will connect the two boards together, while the Mirror Column will reflect the column of your choice. 

How to add the Mirror Column

Here, at Florence Florist, we have a "Stock & Orders" board, where we track how many flowers we have in stock, what the status of the stock is, when we last ordered the flower, when we have to order next, and the supplier's name and phone number. We keep all of our open projects together on another board, where each item is a flower that will be used in a project so we can track everything we have to prepare in the coming months. We can record the number of each flower needed, the price per unit of each flower, and calculate the total cost per flower type.

In order to make sure we have enough flowers in stock for each project, we need to see the stock of each flower, as well as the stock status on the "Projects" board as well as on the "Stock & Orders" board. To achieve this without having to copy and update information on two different boards consecutively, we'll add the Mirror Column!

Note: Currently, the Mirror Column and the Link to Item Column cannot be added from the mobile app, so for now, let's head over to our browsers to add the column,s and then we'll continue learning how to use it from the app! We are constantly improving our mobile app, and hope that you'll be able to add all columns from the app soon, so stay tuned!

Set up your mirrored items

In order for the Mirror Column to show the correct values from our second board, we have to connect all of the items in our "Project" board to the corresponding items in our "Stock & Orders" board and then choose which column's we'd like to mirror! Let's do this in two steps from our browser:

Step 1

First, we can click each cell in the Link to Item Column on our "Projects" board to choose which item they connect to. In this case, we want to match each flower in our "Projects" board to the same flower in our "Stock & Orders" board! 

Step 2

The next step is to click any cell in the Mirror Column on our "Projects" board to choose which column from our "Stock & Orders" board we'd like to appear here! We'll click the drop-down menu in the pop-up window to choose any of the columns in our board!

Once we've chosen a column, we can customize it further by choosing what the column summary will reflect! For example, below, we've selected our "Stock" Numbers Column, and then we chose to calculate the sum of the numbers in the column in our column summary when more than one item is linked! 

To show you another example, we've added a second Mirror Column, connected to the same items on the same "Stock & Orders" board. This time, we've mirrored our board's stock "Status" Column, and chosen to show a summary of all the labels in our column as our column summary when more than one item is linked. 

Edit and customize the column

From our browser, we've linked the "Stock & Orders" board to our "Projects" board and mirrored a Numbers Column and a Status Column. Let's see how they look here in our mobile app! You can see the two Mirror Columns below with the Link to Item Column between them in this image:

Let's see what kind of edits and customization we can do from our app!

• Change column values

From our mobile app, we can change any values in our mirrored columns! We just have to click the cell, and make the change! In our Status Column, for example, we can select a new label, or even add and edit labels! Any change we make in a mirrored column will be made simultaneously in its original board! For example, if we change this item's status from "Fully Stocked" to "Running Low" in our "Projects" board, we will see this change in our "Stock & Orders" board as well!

• View a linked item

If we click any cell in our Link to Item Column, we can click "View Item" to open up the item's information in full screen! This is really useful if we want to see more details than the ones mirrored in our Mirror Columns. 

• Additional actions

By clicking the Mirror Column's title, we can do a variety of actions from the column's settings menu! From here, we can collapse or delete the column, sort the items in the column from A-Z or Z-A, edit the column's name, or add a column description! 

Which columns are supported on the mobile app?

We are still working hard to develop the Mirror Column on the mobile app to give it the full capabilities available from your browser, so in the meantime, we want to clarify which columns are view only and which items can be edited from both your iOS and your Android app!
