Dealing with uncertainty in today's remote work environment

Create a ‘Talks’ board

Having an easy way to communicate changes to multiple relevant people in an organization at once is essential to keep everyone aligned. Whether there is an update for a specific department, team, or a message that you'd like to share with everyone in your company, a 'talks' board can be super helpful to make sure that everyone is up-to-date with any announcements.   


By splitting up the items on your board according to departments or teams within your organization, anyone can then create an update in the Updates Section of a given item, @ mention the relevant people, and the message will be sent out to them from within the platform and to their email inbox as well!


With a talks board at your disposal, communicating changes and updates within your company will be a breeze!

Backlog and iteration board

In a busy and rapidly changing workplace, the effective organization and prioritiziation of tasks is key to ensure that they will be completed in a timely manner. A backlog and iteration board can be used to successfully achieve this.

Fortunately, we’ve created a pre-made template titled ‘Sprint Planning Board’ for this exact scenario. You can add this board to your account in a couple of clicks, and adjust it to your own liking right away!

On this board, you can easily track all of the tasks that need to be completed in the ‘Backlog’ group and allocate a priority level for each of them using the Status Column titled ‘Priority’. Once your tasks are logged and prioritized, you can move them over to the Sprint 1 or 2 group based on their level of importance, assign a person to complete them, and you are ready to complete your work efficiently. 🎉

Tip: you can use monday.com Automations to automate the process of moving items to a certain group based on their priority!


Create a high-level goals board

Motivation boosts are crucial to help get everyone on-board and excited about their work, especially during tough and uncertain times. Creating a High-level Goals board can aid in accomplishing just that!


By setting and defining goals for your organization, everyone will be aligned on why they are doing what they are doing and where these different projects stand.  Plus, the satisfaction of reaching all 'done' statuses on a board can really help with encouraging the team!

Manage the team’s workload

With lots of work to do and changes happening ever so frequently, it’s important to have an easy, visual way to understand and manage the team’s resources. The Workload View or Widget will allowyou to see at a glance who is working over or under capacity, in order to assign or adjust upcoming tasks accordingly. 


By gaining a clear overview of how your team’s workload is divided, you can be better equipped to face any challenge that lies ahead. 🙌

Make use of the Working Status feature

The Working Status feature makes managing a remote team easier than ever, by allowing you to stay up-to-date with the work state of your employees. With this feature, you can effortlessly visualize your team’s availability so you can see who is WFH (working from home), OOO (out of office), or anything in between. Just look for the emoji by their avatar or hover over it and you'll be good to go! 


Not only will you be able to easily see the working status of your employees next to their profile pictures, you can also easily pull in this information from multiple users into a Chart as a board view or dashboard widget!


Tip: By hovering over any section of the chart, you can see which employees have that specific working status set as well as the total percentage of users with that status!


Use a dashboard to consolidate information

Looking for a way to centralize all Health Ministry updates or changes relating to work from home guidelines? Perhaps you'd like an easy way to understand the working status of your employees and the workload that they have going on? By creating dashboards, you can pull in all of this information together in a very visual overview, so everyone can stay up-to-date with all the changes going on.


COVID-19 Updates Dashboard


On this dashboard, the Embed Everything Widget allows us to view updates from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the World Health Organization to ensure that the entire company is constantly informed about new guidelines. Additionally, thanks to the News Updates and the Countdown Widget, the team can stay updated with news straight from selected outlets and they will also be aware of the expected return to the office date. 


Team Updates Dashboard


This dashboard is great to help consolidate all information relating to your team workload or updates in one place. At the top of the dashboard, the Workload Widget and the Working Status widget are key to providing us with useful information on the state of our employees in order to manage resources accordingly. The Team Updates Widget was also included to keep everyone informed of important dates and to boost employee engagement even while working remotely. Below these, the "I was mentioned" Widget helps to pull in all updates that you or your colleagues were mentioned in. Lastly, the Table Widget is used to display the iteration board to ensure that everyone is up to speed about the important tasks or projects going on.
