What can we help you with?

How to change a status automatically?

How many times a day do you change a status on your monday.com board? Are you looking to initiate automated actions by just a click of a status?

Status change automation recipes offer the ability to use status changes to initiate date changes, notifications to your team, moving items between groups or boards and even other status column changes. These automation recipes add a new layer to allowing monday.com to automate your workflow and cut down on the manual actions you need to do to stay on top of your work.

How to set up the automation?

To add the relevant status change recipe to your workflow, you will first need to first visit our automation store on the top bar of your board :

There you will be able to choose from our different recipes and set up the status change automation that supports your workflow:

Supported columns

Currently, status change recipes can include triggering:

  • Date
  • Timeline
  • Status
  • People
  • Time tracking
  • Hour
  • Updates section

Our team is looking into adding more flexibility with other column types such as mirror, formula, numbers and many more - stay tuned for updates on these developments!

So, let's dive into the different use cases 😀

Status Change Use Cases

1. When Status changes, notify someone

In this use case, using the status column to trigger a notification will keep your team up-to-date on your work in context rather than manually visiting the board to check this.

2. When Status changes, push due date by some days

This automation will serve us when a change has happened and now we need to push out the dates of the item based on the status.

In this recipe, you're able to push due dates out by days, weeks, or months based on a simple status change if your meeting or task becomes delayed.
