What can we help you with?

Manage your bugs queue with monday dev

If you work in software development, you know that unfortunately, bugs happen. Managing and prioritizing those bugs is an important part of your team’s workflow. A bugs queue is a crucial tool offered as part of monday dev to help you do just that! 🐞

What is a Bugs Queue?

A bugs queue is an organized way to track any and all flaws that appear within your software. Once you identify bugs, you can manage and prioritize them via a bugs queue. We've offered this comprehensive template as part of our monday dev product and we’re walking you through it step-by-step so that you can bust those bugs quickly and efficiently.

Bust your bugs

The Bugs Queue board is organized into groups by working status. This structure helps you identify new bugs, track those that are currently in progress, and keep a log of resolved bugs where a fix has been successfully deployed!

Items on the board are individual bugs that are being investigated.

Tip: While this template shows bugs prioritized by their status, you could group them by time frame, priority, or assigned team members instead. You can customize it however you want to make it work best for you and your team!

We use columns to identify a contact person and the individual responsible for each item, to manage our working time, to categorize and describe our bugs, and to house other important details in an organized way.

Tell me more about the columns on my board
  • People Column:  One People Column identifies the person who reported the bug, which provides a contact person for any questions or clarification, and another People Column is for assigning the dev responsible for tackling any given bug!
  • Date Column: In order to track and prioritize bugs, we have added a "Report Date" to record when the bug is first reported.
  • Time Tracking Column: This column works together with board automations to monitor how much time each bug has been open.
  • Status Column:  We've added four Status Columns; one to track the item's working status, one to label its priority, one to record the source of the bug report, and one to state the fix required.
  • Text Column: We can use this column to add a quick description of the bug.
  • Files Column: Here we can attach any relevant images, videos, and files!
  • Last Updated Column: This column automatically identifies the last person who edited the item.
  • Formula Column: A formula calculates how long it took our team to resolve each bug.

Visualize data on your bugs

To help you make the most of the data in your board, we've added some widgets to a views dashboard. The widgets we've added transform your bugs queue to allow you to visualize, interpret, and represent your data the way that works best for you and your team.

Show me which widgets are included in this template!
  • Table Widget: This widget gives us a quick glance at our board with any filters we want to apply! For example, on this template we've applied a filter to show us only open bugs so we can see everything we have to currently work on.
  • Chart Widget: We've added 4 different Chart Widgets to measure different metrics from our board!  The first is a donut chart showing the bugs according to priority to show us the ratio of critical, high, medium, and low priority bugs. The second is a donut chart displaying the source of each bug reported. The third is a line graph to visually display the number of bugs reported per month, and the fourth is a line graph showing the resolution time for bugs each month. This one has a benchmark added to help us keep track of our target resolution time!

Use Forms to your advantage

This board is an excellent tool for your team to manage, but what about submissions from people who do not work with this board on a regular basis? We've thought of a way to make sure all bugs are submitted the way that's most helpful for your team - bug reporting using monday Forms!

Just have a link to the bugs queue board's form available to everyone who may want to report a bug. Once the form is filled out, the request is transformed into an item on the board and the data collected is filled into the relevant columns.
