Choose your chart type
Enjoy and create beautiful charts from our chart gallery. Whether you want a pie chart, a stacked chart, or just any chart, we've got you covered! In the settings menu, pick the chart type as below:
Customize your chart
Once you've selected your chart type, you can begin to set-up your chart. Let's go over a few examples of the most popular charts.
- Pie Chart
For the pie chart, select the labels based on the different column types on your board. Let's say we are managing creative requests. We can choose to structure the chart based on the request category to see the request numbers broken down by category:
You can also pick the values taken from the Numbers Columns on your board to showcase. For example, we can easily see the average amount of kilometers for each delivery vehicle:
- Bar graph
For the bar graph, select the x-axis from the different column types in your board. We can for example select "Status", meaning that the x-axis of the chart will reflect the different status labels in our Status Column:
For the y-axis, select the numerical value or any of the other columns on your board. You can select as many numerical values as you want. For example, we are comparing the amount of books in stock to the total amount of orders requested:
- Line graph
For the line graph, select the x-axis from the different column types in your board. For the y-axis, select the numerical value or any of the other columns on your board:
To customize your graph even more, you can order the x and y axis by ascending or descending. Simply choose your preferences under "Sort by" in the "More settings" section:
- Stacked graph
Similar to the bar graph, you can pick your X and Y axis to reflect the information of your choice. Let's say we want to see the kilometers for each category. Once done, we can stack it by the person making the delivery:
Color coordinate your chart
Color adjustments can be made to charts on your dashboard, to ensure accurate data visualization and to align the data with your brand colors!
To customize the colors in your chart, select the "Customization" tab in the chart settings. Click on the "Customize" button, and select the "paint bucket" icon next to your label. From within the color picker, choose the color you would like to represent that label.
To sync the chart colors with your brand colors, you can create your own custom color by clicking on the "+" icon at the bottom of the color picker. Choose a color via the gradient option, or input the color code for your branding.
Configure a multi board Y-Axis setting
If you have multiple boards with number columns and you would like to create comparative data on a Bar graph or Line graph, this setting is perfect for you! To utilize this feature, ensure that you are using our new dashboard engine. Select the three dots in the top right-hand corner of your Dashboard and select "Upgrade to new dashboard engine".
Once you've added a chart to your dashboard, and connected your boards, adjust the settings of the chart by clicking on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the widget, and select "Settings".
Once in the settings, click on the dropdown arrow next to the "Y-Axis" tab. Ensure that the "All at once" option is selected and choose the column that exists across your boards. You will then be able to see the comparative data from the same columns, across your boards.
Add a benchmark and cumulative data
In this view, you also have the option to display your chart as cumulative data. This is particularly useful if you want to see the progress over a month. Each month will include all previous months plus the addition of the current month. For instance, if you are a sales team, this chart can be used to show sales progression over each quarter or year:
Add a calculation
Interested in knowing what the average costs, time commitments, or travel time are in your groups? Maybe the sum or max in a certain column? Well, you can add a sum, average, median, min, or max calculation to your chart! It works with any type of chart and any column or group. First, choose the labels of your chart based on your board's groups or columns, and then select a Numbers Column to apply the function to. Then, just select the function you want to calculate!
For example, in the animation above, we want to calculate the average travel distance each of our delivery vehicles drives! We've selected our "Vehicle" Status Column as the 'Labels', and our "Travel Distance" Numbers Column as our 'Values', and finally, we chose to 'Average' these values. Now, we can see the average distance each vehicle drives in the pieces of our pie chart!
Sort your chart
You can customize your graph even more by choosing the order of your values and whether you want them ascending or descending visually on your graph:
Group your dates
You can click on the "Choose Groups " dropdown menu to decide how you would like the dates grouped by!
